Terms of service

Last updated 18 October 2026

These terms cover your use of Designly at designly.sh, including its website, JSON API, Markdown and JSON pages, and MCP server. By using Designly you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use it. Questions go to hello@designly.sh.

What Designly is

Designly is a free, curated library of design references: screenshots of public websites, cut into labelled sections, with notes on why they work and the colours and fonts they use. It is meant for inspiration, research and commentary.

The websites in the library

The websites, their content, logos and trademarks belong to their owners, not to us. We show them to point to good design, and every reference names and links to the business. Use them as references: don't copy a site's text, photos, logos or other content into your own work, and don't present someone else's site as yours.

If you own or represent a site and want it removed, use the removal form.

Our content

The way the library is organised, our descriptions and our design are ours. You may quote and link to them, and you may use what the API and MCP server return to inform your own design work, including through an AI agent, as long as you credit Designly where you show our descriptions to others. You may not republish the library, or a substantial part of it, as a competing collection.

The API and MCP server

  • No key is needed. Fair use is 60 requests a minute per IP address; we may slow down or block traffic beyond that, or traffic that harms the service.
  • Don't try to get around the limits, scrape the library in bulk, or access anything that isn't public.
  • Keep the links back to the businesses when you pass results on.

Your account

You need an account to save Boards. Keep your sign-in methods safe and tell us at hello@designly.sh if you think someone else has access. You can delete your account at any time from your account settings. We may suspend accounts that break these terms.

Submissions

When you submit a website, you confirm that the information is accurate and, if you say you made it, that you did. You allow us to capture, describe and feature the site in Designly and to credit you as its Maker. An Editor decides what goes in, and we may remove a reference at any time.

Acceptable use

Don't use Designly to break the law, to harass anyone, to send spam, to probe or overload our systems, or to submit sites you know are harmful or deceptive.

No warranty

Designly is provided as it is. We work to keep it accurate and available, but we don't promise that it will always be either, and design details we extract (such as colours and fonts) are our best reading of a site, not a statement from its owner.

Limits on our liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of Designly, and our total liability to you is limited to 100 US dollars. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

Changes

We may update these terms. We'll change the date at the top, and we'll email account holders about any significant change before it takes effect. If you keep using Designly after that, the new terms apply.
